Midfielder Drew Spence is set to leave Chelsea after a thirteen-year service at the club. Spence made her debut in 2009 and has made 238 appearances, scored 50 goals and has also been ever-present in helping the Blues in winning eleven major trophies. Choking back the tears Spence commented that her departure is “one of the hardest decisions she has ever made.” Chelsea manager Emma Hayes said, “Drew has epitomised everything that we have been about in my tenure. She’s watched the club grow from amateur to one of the top teams in Europe and she’s been instrumental in that journey.” Spence will see out the rest of the season in Chelsea Blue before moving on to pastures new.
